So How Did It All Start...
Nigeria Association of Computing Students (NACOS) was founded by groups of students in July 1993 as Nigeria Association of Computer Science (NACOSS) with the backing of Nigerian Computer Society (NCS) as its parent body. It provides avenues for students (in any IT related field) to highlight and champion issues of interest in a coordinated and organized manner.
NACOS members (NACOSites) are students studying in tertiary institutions in computer related disciplines including: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, etc.
- To Become a network of committed Student IT Professionals determined to stimulate the technology, innovation and entrepreneurship scene in Nigeria.
- To develop a vibrant ecosystem that drives digital inclusion across all tertiary Institutions, Governments, Enterprises and Citizens for the advancement of information technology in Nigeria.
- To Become the most sort after Students Organization in terms of Information Technology and Entrepreneurship.
Our First Achivement in History
Each member is essentially a member of the Association’s local chapter in his or her institution.
As of April 2012, NACOS states that it is the largest and most organized student body in West Africa, with registered members of about Two Hundred and Fifty thousand (250 000) in well over One Hundred and fifty local chapters (and more unregistered) in different Institutions (Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education) across the six (6) Geo-political zones of Nigeria.
The 22nd National Executive Council of NACOS
The 22nd National Executive Council of the Nigeria Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS) led by Comr. Olamilekan Abolade proceed on the RESTRUCTURING process of association affairs. Based on the agreement reached with its Parent body Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) to change the nomenclature of the association to NIGERIA ASSOCIATION OF COMPUTING STUDENTS (NACOS).
The new nomenclature will see the association serve as the the umbrella body for students studying all IT and computing related courses such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information System, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Software Engineering e.t.c
The NEC called for a congress scheduled for Wednesday 23rd December, 2020 in order to effect some of the restructuring process needed for the association which includes a new constitution to guide the affairs of the association and its new nomenclature.

On 23rd December, 2020, the Nigeria Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS) he umbrella body for all students studying computing related courses and the student arm of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) held a successful congress which was presided over by theNational President.
At the Congress, the association has accepted to abide and change its nomenclature from Nigeria Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS) to NIGERIA ASSOCIATION OF COMPUTING STUDENTS (NACOS) as agreed upon with its parent body, Nigeria Computer Society (NCS). The congress which was duly supervised by the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) came up with the following resolution to be adopted with immediate effect: Click to download the Official Memo
